2014 Preseason Thunder Schedule

Preseason Thunder returns for 2014. Preseason Thunder is the January testing session that Sprint Cup teams have participated in for years, joining them this year will be the Nationwide Series & Camping World Trucks. The testing is open to the public from the Oldfield Grandstand which is accessible through the Daytona International Speedway Ticket Office. NASCAR Delivers 2014 Competition Package to Teams

NASCAR delivered the official 2014 competition package to teams as of December 17th. The competition package outlines rules such as ride height, spoiler height, body geometry & other technical measurements that is meant to improve racing for the 2014 season. Much of the data that went into this years package was collected at a recent test at Charlotte Motor Speedway. During that test we saw NASCAR & the participating teams conduct multiple mock races to simulate race day situations.  This competition package will debut at Phoenix for the Subway Fresh Fit 500 race weekend as NASCAR has a separate rule package that they use at the restrictor plate tracks Daytona & Talladega.
